Trying to decide what to do the last few days of summer? You know where we are! Yup, at Cannon Beach lying in the sand. It wasn't hot enough to swim and nearly an hour and a half away from home, but we weren't taking any excuses! We made it to Cannon Beach to read my current favorite book, A Year in Provence by Peter Mayle, eat chocolate covered twinkles, and enjoy the breeze.
Some of my most cherished memories are of cloud watching with Ben. I can't quite explain it, but its deeply comforting staring into space, letting your unconscious connect the blobs into imagery, and having someone else see what you see. When he can also recognize a seahorse blowing flames onto a three-legged sheep, it feels like he's acknowledging the child inside my mind. It's also just silly, relaxing fun and it trivializes the rigid seriousness of life. I had no idea though how much cloud imagery and landscapes dominated my iPhoto until today!
Last week, Ben and I ventured out to the Oregon coast for the first time!
Its been a week since we arrived in Portland, and despite having moved for nature we haven't experienced much of it. So, equipped with a camera, a gifted bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon, and a long-ignored bikini, we drove an hour and a half to Cannon Beach!
