The first time I heard about makeup potentially causing cancer and physical problems I wasn't even skeptical because I didn't believe it. EVERYONE wears makeup. My mom taught me to use concealer when I was in sixth grade (and plagued with genetic dark circles-YAY!) and from then on Sephora and CVS were a godsend. The beautiful girls I followed on Youtube made whole careers out of trying products for millions of viewers. Then when I started modeling in Los Angeles at age 15 it became part of my career too! I naively thought: If there was legitimate danger, I would know, and these products would not be readily available and advertised to me.
HOWEVER: I started doing some research, which led me down a very confusing and frustrating rabbit hole, for many months. It's hard to determine an ingredients toxicity when it goes by many names, or doesn't have sufficient research, or (in some cases) is not even listed on the bottle! Still, there was overwhelming evidence that the ingredients in some of my makeup products was toxic, and presumably having an effect on my health.
Bottom Line: Many common cosmetic brands use ingredients that are linked to cancer and reproductive health, and that have been found in tumors. YUP. Our favorite brands are poisoning us, right through our skin.
